Enhanced Quotation

Purpose: To demonstrate how a quotation can be visually enhanced.

Assignment: Select a favorite quotation (song, or poem) and find a way to express the sentiment typographically. Include the name of the author. The use of photographs and illustrations is optional. Quotation can be in English, your native language or both. Choose your quotation carefully. The results of this project will be judged not only by your design, but also on the quotation you have chosen. You can’t make a good design out of bad quotation. A good quotation can stand on its own regardless of the design, but the best design in the world will not save a poor quotation.

Typefaces: Any of the five classic typefaces: Garamond, Baskerville, Bodoni, Century Expanded, Helvetica.

Format: 8 inch x 8 inch (20 x 20 cm)

Time: 4 hours

Note: All solutions shown here were created on the letterpress.
